Recently read: City of Dust

This book's subtitle says it all: illness, arrogance and 9/11. Here is the story of responders and others on the scene at 9/11, of their subsequent health problems, and of the nasty litigation (still ongoing) that resulted between city and workers, city and other victims. It's not a pretty tale and not an encouraging one. At one point the author points out that much more interest and constructive energy has gone to rebuilding the area and building a memorial than to rebuilding the shattered lives of those who were there. There's considerable truth here and, as so often in this country, the truth is depressing.
