Encouraged

The notion that the army story is a novella, sitting there with everything but an ending, a good 75 pages needing no more than 25 more, may be just the insight I need. I even have several ideas for the ending. Damn, what if this is the key. The 75 pages I like aren't "a set up", they are IT. I think this can work as a novella, with some minor rewriting to clarify the focus ... and, of course, an ending, which suddenly appears before me as logical and inevitable. All this time I may have been looking for something that isn't there and missing the obvious -- it already is there. Amazing.
