Shalane Flanagan earns bronze; Christian Cantwell gets silver

Shalane Flanagan of the United States won the bronze medal in the women's 10,000 meters Friday night at Beijing National Stadium in the Olympic Games, finishing behind winner Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia and silver medalist Elvan Abeylegesse of Turkey.
Dibaba's winning time was 29 minutes 54.66 seconds. Flanagan crossed in 30:22.22, breaking her own U.S. record of 30:34.49, set earlier this year.
Kara Goucher of the Nike Oregon Project placed 10th in 30:56.16, a personal record. Amy Yoder Begley, also of the Nike Oregon Project, was 26th.
