My Matisse

We saw Howard Ginsberg's one-woman play about the life of Matisse as told by various women in it (all played well by Sandi Milne). A solid production but a script that needs pruning, especially in the second act where Matisse gets lost in the distractions of WWI and Gertrude Stein. This would be a stronger show if about half an hour shorter and running without intermission. All the same, nicely done and an intriguing concept. But the playwright was too kind to his precious words.
